In 2010 Drew broke his neck in a backflip accident for a school musical, fracturing his C1 and C2 vertebrae, leaving himself paralyzed from the shoulders down and on a ventilator. As a very active student, his physical abilities may have been life changing, but his spirit and positivity continued to shine. He has since finished his undergraduate degree in Life Sciences Informatics at the University of Michigan. An educational scholarship from Thriving After SCI helped Drew graduate without the additional burden of student loans, allowing him to focus his efforts on inspiring others and contributing to society. Drew’s efforts to support himself and his passion for helping others led him to found The Drew Crew, aimed at showing that those who have suffered a catastrophic injury can still live a complete and fulfilling life. Drew's story and his unapologetic unique take on life from his journey with a spinal cord injury can be heard through his podcast, Excuse My Language, But... Drew currently runs for the Drew Crew while residing in Commerce, MI.
